War in the Middle East: Israeli strikes hit Beirut, Lebanon

Lebanon’s state news agency reported Tuesday that the Lebanese army was pulling back from “advanced positions” near the Israeli border, after Israel said its forces were conducting operations in southern Lebanon under what it called a “forward defense posture.” The Israeli military is also continuing to carry out strikes in multiple areas across Lebanon. Since fighting between Israel and Hezbollah erupted, at least 30000 displaced people in Lebanon have taken refuge in shelters, according to the UN refugee agency. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Defense Ministry said an Iranian drone strike targeted the US Embassy in the capital, Riyadh, sparking a small fire and causing minor damage.
