Gandhi Hospital shutdown - 'All patients transferred' after US-Israeli strikes

"Gandhi Hospital in the capital city of Tehran sustained severe damage following US-Israeli airstrikes on wide areas of Iran. Footage filmed on Tuesday shows scattered rubble inside the hospital, damage to patient rooms, as well as damage at the hospital's entrance. "We had approximately 30 patients in the hospital, eight in the ICU, and a pregnant woman who had just given birth, whose newborn was in the ward. Two ICU patients were intubated and had special conditions. Fortunately, all patients were transferred without any casualties. However, one member of the staff, due to the explosion wave, suffered a concussion and brain haemorrhage," stated Mohammad Hasan BaniAsad, the hospital's General Manager. "All parts of the hospital have sustained this damage, to the point where it is practically out of service. Despite the great efforts made by the staff and management, the emergency department has been brought back into operation," he added. Earlier on Sunday, local media reported that the hospital was struck during ongoing US-Israeli military operations. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus voiced concern Sunday via X regarding the attack on Gandhi Hospital amid US-Israeli strikes on Iran, emphasising the critical importance of protecting medical facilities from conflict-related harm. The developments follow a joint US-Israeli attack on Iran on Saturday, with U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing to 'destroy Iran's missiles'. In response, Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps said that 'widespread missile and drone attacks' against Israel were underway. US bases were also reportedly targeted in the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq and Kuwait."
