At the end of January, the bronze statue of the former Vienna mayor Karl Lueger (1844-1910), who is controversial due to his anti-Semitism, was removed as part of preparations for the planned contextualization of the monument on Vienna's Ringstraße. According to the concept of the artist Klemens Wihlidal, it is to be re-erected with a tilt of 3.5 degrees by summer. The costs, originally estimated at 500,000 euros, have now risen to over 770,000 euros.
