‘We felt completely helpless’ - Hundreds of Pakistanis flee Iran, share ‘profound sense of mourning’ over Khamenei killing

"Hundreds of Pakistani nationals have returned to Balochistan province from Iran, as US-Israeli strikes on the country continue. Footage filmed in Quetta on Tuesday shows citizens carrying their belongings and boarding buses after crossing back into Pakistan. Student Anbar Khalil described the situation that led him to flee the country. “We were asleep when we suddenly heard loud noises. Shortly after, we were told that Iran had been attacked,” he explained. “For a brief moment, things seemed to calm down, but then the attacks began again. It was unfolding right in front of us, and we felt completely helpless and confused. As the situation escalated, it became increasingly frightening and uncertain.” Fellow student Ali Akbar described “a profound sense of mourning in the air” after learning about the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei. “We continue to pray for Iran and its people, hoping they remain safe and protected,” he shared. Pakistani authorities stated that a total of 279 people—including students, pilgrims as well as some foreign nationals—have crossed the border back into the country since the hostilities began. The US and Israel attacked Iran on Saturday morning. Tehran said it was responding with strikes on Israel and US facilities in the region, with explosions reported in countries across the Gulf region. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was confirmed dead in a strike on Saturday. It comes after a number of rounds of talks between the Americans and Iranians. "
