President Alexander Stubb is travelling to India on Wednesday on a four-day state visit, said the President Office in a press release. It is the firstvisit of a Finnish President to India in the last 30 years. The most recent state visit from Finland to India was made by President Martti Ahtisaari in 1996. Stubb will meet his Indian counterpart Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, along with other representatives of the state leadership on Thursday in New Delhi. The discussions will address the transformation of international politics and multilateral cooperation, the bilateral relations between Finland and India, the relations between India and Europe, commercial and economic cooperation, regional issues in Asia, as well as Russias war against Ukraine. On the same day Stubb will also participate as the guest of honour in the Raisina Dialogue 2026, a conference focusing on geopolitics and geoeconomics. The President will deliver the inaugural address of the conference and participate in a panel discussion the following day. The conference is organized by the think tank Observer Research Foundation (ORF) and the Ministry of External Affairs of India. During his stay in New Delhi, the President will lay a wreath at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial. The President will visit the University of Mumbai on Saturday where he will meet with students and deliver a speech on multilateral cooperation in the age of fragmentation. In the afternoon, President Stubb will take part in the Finland–India Business Dialogue, an event focusing on infrastructure and industry, skills development, and the deepening of economic relations between India and Finland.
