"Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) Admiral Brad Cooper announced that American forces have eliminated 'nearly 2,000' Iranian targets and paralysed Tehran's capabilities in air and sea, in a video address released on Tuesday. "Many of you may remember the shock and awe strikes of 2003. The first 24 hours of this operation were nearly double the scale, and we continue with 24/7 strikes into Iran, from seabed to space and cyberspace," Cooper remarked, comparing the ongoing operation to that against Iraq over two decades ago. "Now we're less than 100 hours into this operation, and we've already struck nearly 2,000 targets with more than 2,000 munitions [...] And in simple terms, we're focused on shooting all the things that can shoot at us," he continued. Footage also includes the troops' operation in the region, including launches of US missiles and hitting Iran's infrastructure. The admiral noted that Iran has struck up to 2,500 munitions in retaliation, accusing Tehran of 'indiscriminately targeting civilians' while claiming its capabilities were 'declining'. "Our combat power, on the other hand, is building. My overall operational assessment is that we are ahead of our game plan. Along the way, every single branch of our military is achieving unprecedented success," Cooper underlined. The US and Israel launched a joint military operation against Iran on Saturday, February 28, with President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing to 'destroy Iran’s missiles'. In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced 'large-scale missile and drone attacks' targeting Israeli territory. Regional reports also indicated that US military facilities across the Middle East, including bases in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq and Kuwait, were struck amid the widening confrontation. Iranian state media confirmed that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed during the strikes. Trump described the development as “the greatest opportunity for the Iranian people to reclaim their homeland". The escalations follow three recent rounds of nuclear talks between Iranian and American officials, one held in Muscat and two in Geneva."
