MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives Committee on Justice on Wednesday declared the two impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte sufficient in substance. The committee will send its report to the plenary for its consideration. One of the impeachment complaints was filed by priests and others last Feb. 9, 2029 and was endorsed by Mamamayang Liberal Rep. Leila de Lima. The committee voted 54-1 in favor of the motion to declare this complaint sufficient in substance. The vote was also 54-1 in favor of the motion to declare the other complaint sufficient in substance that was filed on Feb. 18 by lawyer Nathaniel Cabrera. It was endorsed by Manila 6th District Rep. Bienvenido Abante Jr., chairman of the House Committee on Human Rights, and Deputy Speaker and La Union 1st District Rep. Francisco Paolo Ortega V. The committee granted the motion to issue a notice to Duterte to file her answer to the impeachment complaints within 10 calendar days from receipt of notice.
