'Really good to come back' - Emotional reunions at Delhi airport as passengers return on repatriation flights from conflict-hit Middle East

"Families held emotional reunions with passengers returning from the conflict‑hit Middle East at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday, as India continued efforts to repatriate thousands of nationals stranded in the region. Footage shows families waiting in Delhi airport's arrivals hall with flowers, watching for relatives to come through the gates. Many broke into tears and hugged returning passengers as they wheeled their luggage into the terminal. Airport information boards also listed multiple cancellations for flights from Middle Eastern cities. "We were worried for four days, since the ticket got cancelled on the 28th. Now we have to buy a ticket worth Rs. 65,000 ($708 - 702 euros) in India, which is a problem for us. It feels really good to come back," one passenger from Abu Dhabi shared. "The people whose tickets for the next flight are cancelled are very worried. They are very worried. Tickets are being cancelled," a traveller from Riyadh noted. One also claimed that the situation in Riyadh remained largely calm, although residents felt 'a little fear' as attacks continued in the region. Up to 80 flights were cancelled at Delhi airport on Tuesday, with more than 250 affected across India's four major airports, according to local media. Authorities were reportedly exploring a mix of charter and scheduled services via nearby open airspace to bring Indian nationals home. The US and Israel attacked Iran on Saturday morning. Tehran said it was responding with strikes on Israel and US assets in the region, with strikes reported in countries right across the Gulf region. The US side reported on Monday that six military personnel had been killed. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was confirmed dead in a strike on Saturday. It comes after a number of rounds of talks between the Americans and Iranians."
