'End all collaboration' - Protesters scale rooftop at Eindhoven University of Technology, demand end to Israeli ties

"A group of pro-Palestinian protesters climbed onto the roof of a building at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) on Tuesday morning, demanding that the institution break all ties and collaborations with Israel. Footage shows approximately 16 demonstrators, dressed in black and wearing kufiyas, climbing the campus building as part of an action organised by the Eindhoven Student Encampment. From the rooftop, protesters unfurled banners, lit smoke flares, and addressed onlookers through a megaphone, while police monitored the situation below. “Immediately end all collaborations with institutions and companies linked to the genocidal state. Two. We demand full disclosure of all military-linked research, partnerships and financial interests," said one activist, issuing a series of demands. "Three. We demand an immediate end to the intimidation and punishment of community members who speak out [...] this is not neutrality. It is hypocrisy,” the activist added. Authorities later moved in to remove the demonstrators from the building. The student-led group is calling on TU/e to boycott the Israeli occupation, halt related investments, and impose sanctions in support of Palestinian liberation. The group, which has staged similar actions before, said online, “We have occupied a TU/e rooftop to once again expose the university’s complicity in genocide and the oppression of its own community.” The protest comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East after Israel and the United States launched joint airstrikes across Iran on February 28, hitting sites they said were linked to Tehran's nuclear and ballistic missile programmes in a bid to eliminate what they described as 'existential threats'. In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it had launched 'large-scale missile and drone attacks' against Israel. Reports also indicated that US bases in the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, and Kuwait were targeted."
