HD Hyundai chairman helps strengthen Korea-Philippines ties

HD Hyundai said Thursday that the shipbuilding group's chairman, Chung Ki-sun, helped boost relations between Korea and the Philippines during his recent trip to the Southeast Asian country as a member of the Korean business delegation accompanying President Lee Jae Myung’s state visit. On Wednesday, Chung laid a wreath at Manila’s Libingan ng mga Bayani, translated as the Cemetery of Heroes, to honor Philippine soldiers who fought and died in the 1950-53 Korean War. The Philippines was the first Asian country to send combat troops and dispatched the region’s largest contingent, the 7,420-member Philippine Expeditionary Forces to Korea. That same day, the chairman joined the Korea-Philippines Business Forum to discuss details about ways to enhance economic cooperation between the two nations. Co-hosted by the Federation of Korean Industries and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the forum was attended by the leaders of both countries.
