"Footage released by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Thursday shows troops holding positions and later engaging in firing in southern Lebanon, according to the IDF press service. The IDF said on Tuesday it had deployed forces deeper into southern Lebanon, beyond the five posts it currently holds, 'as part of an enhanced forward defence posture' amid attacks by Hezbollah. The exact date and and location of the footage shared by IDF cannot be independently verified. Southern Lebanon has reportedly seen a large wave of displacement following Israeli evacuation warnings for several towns and villages. The escalation began after Hezbollah announced early Monday that it had launched rockets and drones targeting the Mishmar HaCarmel missile defence compound, describing the attack as retaliation for the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader. In response, the Israeli military said it carried out strikes on several villages in southern Lebanon after issuing evacuation warnings. The US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28. Tehran has responded with strikes on Israel and US-linked targets across the region, with explosions reported in several Gulf countries. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was later confirmed dead in the strikes. The confrontation follows several recent rounds of talks between US and Iranian officials."
