"UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed met with his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, in Rome on Thursday to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and review current developments in the region. Footage from the meeting shows the two ministers shaking hands and holding talks alongside officials from both countries. According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the discussions focused on cooperation across all fields, including economic, trade, and investment sectors, as well as collaboration in renewable energy, innovation, and advanced technology. The talks also reportedly discussed the current situation in the Middle East following Iranian missile attacks on the UAE and other Gulf countries. Both sides emphasised "the importance of enhancing joint efforts to support regional security and stability, and to reinforce peaceful solutions to conflicts through dialogue and diplomatic means." Earlier today, UAE air defenses announced successfully intercepting six ballistic missiles and 125 Iranian drones over the country. The UAE Ministry of Defense reported tracking a total of 196 missiles and 1,072 Iranian drones since the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran. The escalation comes after the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on Saturday morning, with Tehran responding with strikes targeting Israeli and American interests in the region, amid reports of explosions in several Gulf countries. In a related development, Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was reportedly killed in a strike on Saturday, following multiple rounds of talks between US and Iranian officials."
