NBI subpoenas 18 alleged ex-Marines over bribery claims

MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has subpoenaed the 18 alleged former Marines who accused several former and current government officials of receiving either a suitcase, a bag, or a paper bag full of cash. NBI Director Melvin Matibag confirmed this to the Inquirer on Friday. According to Matibag, the subpoena against the 18 individuals was issued on Thursday, March 5. “We were deputized by the Ombudsman to investigate,” Matibag told the INQUIRER.
