Notice issued to secretary health in contempt plea

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday issued notice to the secretary health Punjab on a contempt of court petition in a matter of non-payment of worth Rs 8.8 million for medicines provided to government hospitals. Earlier, petitioner Shahid Maqbool’s counsel submitted that under the health facilitation program medicines of worth Rs 8.8 million were provided to the health department but the dues were not paid as per the stipulated time. The petitioner contended that applications were submitted to the health secretary and other officers but no veil. The petitioner, therefore, approached the LHC and the court ordered the secretary to decide the matter. The court’s order was not complied with, therefore, the petitioner approached the court again praying to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the secretary for disobeying the order.
