'It's not deterrence, they want to conquer!' - Hundreds protest in Paris against US‑Israeli strikes on Iran

"Hundreds of people gathered in Paris on Friday to protest recent military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran. Footage shows protesters waving Iranian, Lebanese and Palestinian flags as well as holding signs and banners such as 'Stop the massacre in Gaza!' and 'No to the imperialist war on Iran'. "Trump and Netanyahu say these words are to prevent Iran from developing weapons. But is that the truth? No, it is not the truth," a protester said. Another demonstrator claimed there were economic motives behind military escalation. "Capitalism is in crisis, and the only solution they have ever found is war. They manufacture huge quantities of weapons, so they have to use them," she said. "They can't have us believing that they're just going to leave them in a corner; I don't buy into this deterrence story. They want to conquer. There's oil; oil is the main issue," she continued. The protests in Paris form part of a wider series of demonstrations worldwide following the joint US‑Israeli strikes against Iran. The US and Israel reportedly launched attacks on Saturday morning, prompting Tehran to respond with strikes targeting Israeli and American interests in the region, with reports of explosions in several Gulf countries. In a related development, it was confirmed that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in a strike on Saturday, following multiple rounds of talks between US and Iranian officials."
