Dahiyeh decimated - Shocking aftermath in Beirut's southern suburbs amid Israeli airstrikes

"The astonishing scale of the destruction in Dahiyeh, one of Beirut's southern suburbs, was laid bare on Friday, following overnight Israeli airstrikes.   Lebanese media reported attacks in Jamous, Mashrafieh, Haret Hreik and Burj al-Barajneh. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health’s Health Emergency Operations Centre, Israeli strikes have killed 123 people and injured 683 others in total.   On Thursday, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued a warning to residents of the southern suburbs, urging them to evacuate specific neighbourhoods.   “Residents of the neighborhoods of Burj al-Barajneh and al-Hadath, please head east toward Mount Lebanon via the Beirut-Damascus highway,” he said. “Residents of Haret Hreik and Shiyah must move north toward Tripoli on the Beirut-Tripoli axis and east toward Mount Lebanon on the Metn Expressway.” It comes as thousands in the south fled their homes in cars and on foot this week. Israel launched strikes on Lebanon on Monday, in the latest escalation of the conflict with Hezbollah - after attacking Iran together with the US. The IDF said it was responding to Hezbollah's own attacks, which the group said were retaliation for the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. "
