Relief centres under strain - Iranian Red Crescent says 11 facilities damaged, seven staff injured amid US-Israeli airstrikes

"The spokesperson for the Iranian Red Crescent, Mojtab Khaledi, said that 11 of the organisation’s relief centres were damaged and seven of its staff were injured as a result of the US-Israeli airstrikes, in Tehran on Friday. Khaledi said “Regarding the Red Crescent centres, whose sole mission is humanitarian relief, we have two main types of operations, search and rescue, and pharmacies providing specialized medicines. Unfortunately, up to now, 11 Red Crescent relief centres have been damaged, and seven of my colleagues have been injured in these attacks.” "So far, 3,866 residential units and 14 medical centers have been impacted. Some of these medical centers were treating patients in operating rooms or intensive care units when they were hit by missiles, causing significant damage," he added. The Iranian Red Crescent reported that 1,332 civilians have been killed since the start of the American-Israeli offensive. On Saturday morning, Israel and the United States launched a joint military operation against Iran. Tehran responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and US military bases across the region, with explosions reported in several Gulf countries.  Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was confirmed killed in an airstrike on Saturday.  The escalation comes after a series of nuclear talks between Iran and the United States.  "
