Netizens liken Immigration arrest post to KPop promo

MANILA, Philippines — Netizens on Friday and Saturday poked fun at the Bureau of Immigration’s (BI) Facebook post, showing a South Korean citizen arrested in Pampanga, thinking it was something similar to a KPop band. According to the BI on Friday, a raid was conducted at an office in Angeles City last Feb. 25, 2026, which led to the arrest of South Korean citizen Yu Jaemin, 33. On Facebook, however, netizens compared the photo arrangement to a shoot of South Korean pop groups, such as Super Juuior and EXO or even esports teams. “It’s like a Super Junior or EXO-inspired shot,” wrote one netizen in the comment section of the Immigration post. “The fact that they placed the good-looking man at the front means they're unto something y’all,” wrote another. “It’s giving Squid Game,” another netizen said, referencing a popular South Korean movie. “Selda pop?” wrote another netizen, referencing a popular Korean song. “I have to look twice if this is a Kpop Meme Page,” said another commenter. According to Immigration, three of the Koreans arrested were “fugitives from justice with existing derogatory records”, while others were overstaying.
