Families scattered – Majdal Baana school opens doors for those forced to flee Israeli strikes

"Families displaced by Israeli strikes and warnings on their villages have taken refuge in a secondary school in the town of Majdal Baana in the Sofar District of Mount Lebanon, after the school opened its doors to those forced to flee their homes. Footage filmed on Friday shows displaced families inside the school serving as a shelter, with their few personal belongings laid out in classrooms, while volunteers were seen registering medicines for distribution to those in need. "In the first stage, we opened the public school in the town as a shelter that can accommodate between 75 and 80 people at most,” the mayor of Majdal Baana, Amin Abdulkhaleq, said. "Displaced families arrived here with almost nothing. Within our limited means, the municipality tried to secure the minimum necessities such as mattresses and blankets,” he noted. "My sons are scattered in different places, so we don't know each other's news. My sons are with their families, and I'm here with my daughter and her husband and children," explained displaced person Basma Bajouq. "All that we wish for is this crisis to be tackled so we can return to our towns, this is the only thing that we don't have," added another displaced person, Hassan Alloush. The latest escalation in Lebanon comes after Hezbollah intervened in the war 'in revenge' for the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, carrying out several operations. In response, the Israel Defence Forces targeted multiple villages in southern Lebanon and conducted airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs."
