Southern Beirut bombardment - Israel continues shelling of Lebanon capital city's suburbs amid anti-Hezbollah campaign

"Israeli military continued shelling of the southern suburbs of Beirut on Friday, amid ongoing military campaign against Hezbollah. Footage shows projectile explosions in various areas of the city with pillars of smoke raising and explosions heard. The Israeli army reported it had launched another wave of strikes in Beirut's southern suburbs 'to target Hezbollah infrastructure', following a statement issued on Wednesday, warning residents to keep out. A new warning was issued on Friday to residents of the Bekaa region, urging them 'to evacuate immediately and move north'. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the Israeli airstrikes have killed 217 people and wounded 798 others since the start of the military campaign on Monday. This escalation in Lebanon comes after Hezbollah announced its intervention in the conflict 'in revenge' for the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, claiming to have carried out several operations. In response, the Israeli military has struck several southern villages and carried out airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut. Meanwhile, the US and Israel attacked Iran on Saturday morning. Tehran said it was responding with strikes on Israel and US assets in the region, with explosions reported in countries right across the Gulf region. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was confirmed dead in a strike on Saturday. It comes after a number of rounds of talks between the Americans and Iranians."
