'No more occupation' - Seoul protesters march on US Embassy for International Women's Day, voicing support for Palestinian, Iranian women

"Activists gathered in the Gwanghwamun area of Seoul on Saturday to rally in solidarity with Palestinian women marking International Women’s Day. Footage shows the protest, organised by People in Solidarity with Palestinians, with demonstrators marching through central Seoul chanting slogans including ‘Free Palestine’ and ‘No more occupation’ before heading toward the United States Embassy in Seoul. Protesters carried banners bearing slogans including ‘Terrorist Trump’ and ‘Down with the US and Israel’. “The protest today is in celebration of Women's Day, and so we are gonna be paying particular attention to the women in Palestine right now, who are obviously suffering greatly... so we are here remembering Palestinian women today,” said protester Sophie. While the protest focused on Palestinian women, many of the protesters also showed their support for those affected by the ongoing tensions in the Middle East after US-Israeli strikes against Iran started on February 28. "And obviously, the recent invasion - it is against human rights - it's only about powers, so it is really important to speak our voice and speak up against this injustice,” added student Susane. Observed annually on March 8, International Women's Day highlights the achievements of women while drawing attention to ongoing struggles for gender equality, rights and safety worldwide. "
