"Damaged buildings, wrecked vehicles and rubble scattered across the streets were seen on Saturday in the eastern Lebanese town of Nabi Chit after Israeli airstrikes and an airborne operation in the area. "The airstrikes escalated very violently," said the head of the Union of Municipalities of Eastern Baalbek. "Around 11:30, the airborne landing operation began, and clashes erupted in the eastern district. Several people were killed in the clashes, and thankfully, the operation has failed," he added. The Israeli military said its special forces carried out a night operation in Lebanon to locate the remains of Israeli Air Force navigator Ron Arad, adding that no soldiers were injured and that he was not found at the site. Hezbollah said it spotted four Israeli helicopters entering from Syrian airspace and landing troops near the eastern district of Nabi Chit. The group said its fighters then clashed with the force using light and medium weapons. Lebanon's National News Agency said 26 people were killed in airstrikes on central and outlying parts of Nabi Chit before the landing operation. The Lebanese army said its troops later exchanged fire with Israeli forces, leaving three Lebanese soldiers dead. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the Israeli airstrikes have killed 217 people and wounded 798 others since the start of the military campaign on Monday. This escalation in Lebanon comes after Hezbollah announced its intervention in the conflict 'in revenge' for the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, claiming to have carried out several operations. In response, the Israeli military has struck several southern villages and carried out airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut."
