'We carried out 3,400 strikes' - IDF says 7,500 munitions dropped across Iran, '600 Hezbollah targets' also hit in Lebanon

"IDF spokesperson Effie Defrin said Israeli forces have conducted thousands of strikes across Iran since the start of the operation and disabled more than 150 Iranian air defence systems during his daily briefing on Saturday “As part of the operation, we carried out about 3,400 strikes across Iran and rendered more than 150 Iranian defence systems inoperative,” Defrin said. “So far, the Air Force has dropped about 7,500 munitions on targets all across Iran, which is twice the amount dropped throughout the previous operation,” he added. According to Defrin, the latest phase of the campaign is focused on infrastructure linked to weapons production, after Israeli intelligence reportedly detected efforts by Iran to rebuild and expand missile manufacturing. At the same time, Defrin said Israel had intensified its campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon. “In the last four days, Air Force aircraft have struck about 600 Hezbollah targets and dropped about 700 munitions on terrorist infrastructure across Lebanon,” he said, adding that command centres, drone production laboratories and unmanned aerial vehicles were among the targets. Defrin also confirmed that Israeli forces had struck the building of Iran’s Assembly of Experts in the city of Qom, saying the attack aimed to disrupt efforts to appoint a new supreme leader following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. “We attacked the building of the Assembly of Experts in Qom in order to prevent the selection of the leader,” he said. The statements come amid a rapidly escalating regional conflict. The United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes against Iran on February 28, prompting Tehran to retaliate with missile and drone attacks against Israel and US interests across the region, with explosions reported in several Gulf countries. Iranian authorities later confirmed that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed during the opening phase of the conflict."
