No damage reported after magnitude 5 quake jolts Calatagan, Batangas

LUCENA CITY — A magnitude 5 earthquake struck the coastal town of Calatagan in Batangas province early Sunday, March 8, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 12:04 a.m., with its epicenter located nine kilometers northeast of the municipality. The tremor, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 142 kilometers.
