Couple scoop TWO lottery jackpots as proceeds donated to veterans charity

A couple has scooped two lottery jackpots from the People's Postcode Lottery. The Hampshire couple won the tickets when Sharon Healy, 56, from Gosport, won a whopping sum after her post code was selected in the £1 Millionaire Street prize. She was able to score double the £200,000 jackpot after she bought two tickets for the prize draw, scoring her and partner Chris Smith, 55, a whopping £400,000. Ms Healy, a former naval worker and grandmother, said "we can do anything now" after receiving her first cheque form the People's Postcode Lottery. TRENDING Stories Videos Your Say When the second cheque was presented by lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson, she said: "We can do double anything!" Despite the windfall, the couple donated over £100,000 to charities in the area. Veterans Outreach Support, a charity which provides welfare and psychological support to ex-Armed Forces and Merchant Navy veterans, families, and their carers, will receive £60,000. Mr Smith, a former Warrant Officer, said veteran support was a worthy cause, especially in times like now. He said: "Any veterans charity support is very worthwhile, especially with what is going on right now. "There are a lot of veterans who are depending on that support." Gosport-based charity Oarsome Chance, a charity that provides support for children with special educational needs will be donated £80,000. Ms Healy, who worked on the HMS Sultan, said she doesn't plan to splash her newfound cash on luxury items. The couple plans to go on a holiday to Turkey later this year, but has no other big wish list items to spend on. She plans on visiting her daughter, Lauren, in Wales. She will also treat her new two-week-old granddaughter Maeve during her visit. She said: "I’ve got a two-week-old granddaughter. I’m going to Wales where my daughter lives with her partner on Monday and I’m sure she’ll be getting spoiled." The next set of People's Postcode Lottery Millionaire Street winners will be announced on March 21. In the National Lottery, the jackpot stands at an estimated £5million after no player secured the top prize. One player managed to match five numbers and the bonus ball to secure £1million.
