Footage captured in Barnaul on Wednesday shows the fluffy dog wagging his tail with curiosity and sniffing jars during training. "This is the only corgi police dog in the Altai region. We decided to try this breed to see how it would behave in laboratory conditions. So far, he performs very well. If he continues to do so and we are satisfied, we will get another corgi," said Ginger’s boss Alexander Volnykh, senior expert at the department. The officer also stressed that the dog’s training began with gradually getting him accustomed to the examination room, before moving on to real-life police work. "They search for scent traces on carrier objects. In our case, the carrier objects are knives, sticks, steering wheel covers, and steering wheel wraps. <…> They will search for what was set at the start. If a person has come into contact with an object, there is a high probability that the dog will find it. Three dogs must confirm the selected sample," Volnykh explained. The officer noted that Ginger is friendly toward people and other animals, enjoys good food, and loves playing with his ball. "
