‘Embracing life’ - Gaza Ramadan Football Championship concludes with support from UAE’s ‘Operation Chivalrous Knight 3’

"The Gaza Ramadan football Championship for veteran Palestinian players wrapped up on Saturday with Khadamat Al Maghazi team clinching the title after an intense final against Ittihad Al Shujaaiya before a huge crowd. Footage captures moments from the ongoing match with enthusiasts in the stands waving Palestinian and Emirati flags during the match. The winner’s celebrations on the pitch can also be seen followed by the award ceremony where the championship trophy was lifted. “We extend our utmost gratitude to the ‘Operation Chivalrous Knight’ which sponsored the championship,” said Zakaria Al Kafarna, head of the competition committee. “It was organised through the Palestinian Association of Veteran Athletes with the aim of reviving sporting activity once again,” he added. “This initiative followed a war that lasted nearly two and a half to three years. It paved the way for a part of the sporting body to modestly recover through veteran athletes who during this tournament offered memorable glimpses that evoked memories of their days on the pitch,” he explained. The final fixture, which rekindled memories of Palestinian football stars, was played out to enthusiastic cheering from fans, with pictures of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held aloft in the stands in appreciation of the UAE’s support for Gaza. A ceasefire agreement was signed between Hamas and Israel, effective on Friday, October 10, which is part of a broader agreement under the '20-point Trump Plan'. The plan was based on an immediate cessation of fighting, the release of all hostages, both living and deceased, and the provision of humanitarian aid. In late January, Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff announced the launch of Phase II of a 20-point Gaza peace plan. The plan entails shifting from ceasefire to full disarmament, the establishment of technocratic administration, reconstruction and reopening the Rafah border crossing. "
