Rallying for the cause - Jordan Bardella casts ballot in French municipal elections

"President of the National Rally party Jordan Bardella voted in the first round of France's municipal elections at his local polling station on Sunday. Footage shows Bardella arriving by car with his bodyguard, entering the polling station located in a children's recreation centre and casting his ballot, before leaving. No supporters were present as Bardella voted as National Rally does not have a major following in Garches, a town in the Hauts-de-Seine department of the Ile-de-France region. France's municipal elections are seen as an early indicator for the 2027 presidential race, with the conservative National Rally party, led by Jordan Bardella and Marie Le Pen, aiming to build support and mainstream parties trying to avoid losing ground. Several major cities are being closely watched in the elections, including Paris, Marseille, Nice, Le Havre and Lyon. Paris remains a key contest between liberal and socialist parties and the conservatives, while Marseille is being seen as one of the most closely fought races, with the National Rally challenging the liberal and socialist parties. The National Rally has gained support by focusing on issues such as security, crime and migration."
