The Israeli army announced the launch of a wide-scale wave of strikes targeting the infrastructure of the 'Iranian terrorist regime' in Tehran, Shiraz, and Tabriz. Tensions in the Middle East escalated after the United States and Israel carried out joint military operations against Iran on February 28, at a time when diplomatic talks were underway aimed at "curbing Iran’s nuclear and missile programs." In response, Tehran launched strikes targeting Israel and US military sites in the region, with reports of explosions in several Gulf countries. Later, it was announced that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had been killed, and his son Mojtaba Khamenei was chosen as his successor. The confrontations also extended to Hezbollah in Lebanon, following its declaration of intervention in the war "in revenge" for the Iranian leader, while shipping routes in the region, including the Strait of Hormuz, became at risk following its closure. The escalation led to oil prices rising above $100 per barrel, intensifying pressure on global markets and sparking protests in several countries."
