PNP hails Senate bill requiring body cams in law enforcement operations

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) welcomed a bill approved by the Senate requiring law enforcement officers to use body-worn cameras during operations. “We have long been using body-worn cameras for we believe that they are instruments of truth, transparency and accountability,” PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement on Tuesday. “We hope that this legislative measure will lead to the PNP’s acquisition of more of this recording device in the future,” he added.
