Eight dead in roof collapse at Rahim Yar Khan shop

RAHIM YAR KHAN: A tragic roof collapse at a shop in Rahim Yar Khan has left as many as eight women dead and more than 60 people injured, officials said on Monday. The victims had gathered to collect financial assistance under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) when the structure suddenly gave away. The incident occurred in the Tabba 123-P area of Rahim Yar Khan, where several women had assembled to receive relief funds. Officials confirmed that teams from Rescue 1122, Edhi Foundation, and other relief organisations are actively participating in the rescue and relief operation. The district administration issued an alert for urgent treatment of the injured women at the Shaikh Zayed Hospital. According to authorities, there was quite a rush at the BISC centre and suddenly the roof came down with a bang. The poor women lined up since morning to get hold of some money before Eid-ul-Fitr at the weekend. More than 200 women were present at the site — a local shop in Chak 123-P Tabba locality of the district.
