Paws and relax – Indonesia's cat hotels fully booked for purr-fect Eid getaway amid celebration rush

"As millions of Indonesians return to their hometowns for the annual Eid holiday, celebrating the end of Ramadan, a specific demographic is also checking in for the holidays: their cats. Cat hotels and boarding services across the archipelago are reporting full occupancy, with some facilities fully booked since late last year. This surge in demand highlights the country's deep affection for pets, as owners unable to bring their feline companions on the often long, chaotic journey home seek safe, luxurious alternatives. The Arnamir Cat Hotel in Cikajang, South Jakarta, with accommodation for over 30 cats, is fully booked as owners secure a safe haven for their pets during Eid. “We have a total of 32 rooms, with 4 suite rooms and 28 deluxe rooms, all fully booked now for Eid," said Wlka from Arnamir Cat Hotel. Footage shows cats being dropped off by their owners and placed in their own private 'rooms'. When they have settled in and eaten, they can be seen exploring and interacting with other cats in the playroom. Some are whisked off to the grooming salon for a bath and trim. Services range from basic cages to 'VIP suites' complete with multi-level platforms, individual air conditioning, and 24-hour CCTV streaming, allowing owners to check on their pets via smartphone. “I really trust this place. This was the first cat boarding facility I ever found, and I keep coming back because they provide CCTV. It makes me feel at ease leaving my cat here,” said cat owner Risma. “Since I’m already used to coming here, the service is great. My cat is kept clean and smells wonderful throughout their stay,” added another cat owner, Mrs Hasti. This trend reflects a broader shift in Indonesia's pet culture, where owners are increasingly willing to invest in premium care. Facilities offer amenities such as playtime sessions, gourmet meals, and grooming packages to ensure cats are pampered until their owners return."
