"UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reiterated that he wouldn't be helping out Donald Trump in Iran, during a a video address from London on Tuesday. "We're not joining the war. We are allowing the US to use our bases," he said. "We've got about 300,000 British nationals in the Gulf region, and it's important we protect them and our Gulf allies. So we have got the RAF in particular, flying aeroplanes across the region. They're actually intercepting strikes to stop them hitting people and buildings. So that's defensive action." Earlier, Trump repeatedly said he was 'disappointed' in Starmer after saying the PM had offered to send aircraft carriers after the initial battle was 'won' - and added that he was 'no Churchill'. Starmer said that a number of the UK military bases in the Middle East had been 'targeted by Iran'. "In order to protect them, we had already pre-deployed anti-drone capability, radar capability. We already had our planes there, RAF pilots, we put more of those into the region and from about an hour or two after the conflict started, they've been working 24/7 in the skies, taking out the incoming strikes from Iran, which is protecting our bases and our people in those bases," he concluded. The remarks come as Royal Air Force Fairford hosted several US aircrafts, including C-130J Super Hercules military transport plane, alongside several long-range B-1B Lancer bombers. The US and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28. Tehran responded with strikes on Israel and US assets in the region. The conflict soon widened to Israel and Hezbollah trading strikes across the border with Lebanon. The escalating conflict has sent global energy prices soaring and led to the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which handles 20 per cent of global oil traffic."
