Four teens charged after aggravated burglary that led to car chase across Auckland

Four teenagers have been charged following an aggravated burglary that led to a chase across Auckland which ended dramatically in the central business district.  Police said they responded to an aggravated burglary around 3.10pm on Bleakhouse Rd in Howick.  Police soon located a Ford Ranger allegedly stolen from the address, and a fleeing driver event took place which later ended on Karangahape Rd in central Auckland.  Multiple people have been handcuffed in central Auckland after a major police chase through the CBD. Photo / Dean Purcell  Those arrested are all males aged between 15 and 17, police said.  “All four have jointly been charged with committing burglary with a weapon, over the offending that took place in Howick,” Counties Manukau district commander Superintendent Shanan Gray said.  “The 16-year-old driver has also been charged with assaulting a person with a blunt instrument, failing to stop and reckless driving.”  The car involved in the chase was stopped by police. Photo / Dean Purcell  All were expected to appear in the Manukau Youth Court.  “Two of those arrested required treatment in hospital as a result,” said Gray.  “The victim of the aggravated burglary in Howick was shaken by the violent event that took place and has been provided support.”
