'We share the same values' - Milei calls Israel 'partner' in 'fight against terrorism' at memorial for 1992 embassy bombing in Buenos Aires

"President Javier Milei took part on Tuesday in a ceremony in Buenos Aires marking the 34th anniversary of the 1992 bombing of the Israeli embassy in Argentina, the first major international terror attack in the country. Footage shows attendees gathering at Embassy of Israel Square - the site of the former embassy building - and was attended by senior officials, including Secretary General Karina Milei and Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno, along with diplomats and representatives of the Jewish community. In a speech, Milei said Argentina was a 'partner' of Israel and that both countries were united by "the values of freedom and the fight against terrorism." "They tried, through fear and threats, to drive us away from a sister nation that shares the same values as ours," Milei said. He also repeated his support for Israel as tensions rise in the Middle East. "We also make clear where we stand at this historical moment in which the United States and Israel have decided to put an end to the Iranian regime," he said. Alberto Kupersmid, one of the survivors of the bombing, backed the government's stance but said justice had still not been delivered more than 30 years after the attack. "I celebrate that you have chosen to stand on the right side of history, the side of life, the side of peace and respect, but that alone is not enough," he said. "We need progress, and we are waiting for the trial in absentia that you committed to last year," he added. The Israeli embassy bombing in Buenos Aires killed 29 people and wounded 242 in a suicide car bomb attack blamed on Hezbollah, with Iranian backing. Argentina is backing US and Israeli strikes on Iran, setting it apart from other countries in the region that have called for dialogue and condemned the military escalation. A joint US-Israeli operation against Iranian targets started on February 28. Tehran responded with missile and drone strikes on Israel and US military positions in the region, while explosions were reported across Gulf countries.  Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was confirmed dead on the first day, with his son Mojtaba Khamenei selected as successor. US President Donald Trump warned that any new leader would 'not stay for long' if elected without US consent."
