Chancellor Stocker advocates for sustainable reductions in electricity prices ahead of the EU summit. In the National Council on Wednesday, he called for concrete solutions for the merit-order system, which forces Austria to pay higher prices. Although 90 percent of electricity comes from renewable sources, the price is based on gas power plants. In the absence of an agreement, Stocker is considering national or bilateral measures.
