Three people have been injured, one seriously, after a crash in a supermarket carpark in Auckland’s Northcote this morning. Police were alerted to reports of a three-vehicle crash in a carpark on Pearn Cres off Lake Rd in Takapuna around 8am. “A vehicle lost control and collided with two parked cars,” police said. No pedestrians were injured. It comes a week after another crash on Auckland’s North Shore in which a woman died after being hit by a car while sitting at a cafe with her daughter. St John confirmed one person was taken to Middlemore Hospital with serious injuries, and two others with moderate injuries were sent to North Shore Hospital. Fire and Emergency said two fire trucks were sent to the crash, one from Takapuna and one from Birkenhead. No one was trapped in the vehicles. Police said the Serious Crash Unit was at the scene and an investigation into the cause was ongoing. On Wednesday last week, a car mounted a kerb and hit two people sitting outside the William Souter Espresso cafe in Auckland’s Forrest Hill. A woman was taken to hospital in a critical condition, where she died from her injuries. Two other people sustained moderate injuries. Tributes for victim Sarah Clark poured from the community, including Windsor Park Baptist Church, where she worked, which called her a “dear colleague and friend”. “It’s changed the family, and we’ll offer every care and support that we can for them, obviously, for their kids who have lost a mum as young teenagers. You can’t imagine how hard that is.”
