British tourist dies in Thailand after his 'drinks were spiked' during six-week getaway with girlfriend

A British events organiser died in Bangkok after he and his girlfriend allegedly consumed spiked drinks while holidaying in Thailand. Tom Pardhy, 38, had been exploring the country for six weeks alongside his partner Naomi Raksha, 31, when tragedy struck in the Thai capital on March 6. Ms Raksha was transported to hospital in a tuk tuk, where she was placed on a ventilator in intensive care following poisoning and a subsequent cardiac arrest. The Foreign Office has confirmed Mr Pardhy's death and stated it is providing support to his family while liaising with Thai authorities. Mr Pardhy's death was announced on March 11 through an Instagram post signed by his mother Joanna, sister Alex, and Ms Raksha. "It is with indescribable grief and sadness that we are writing to tell you of the sudden, accidental and unexpected death of our dear Tom in Bangkok last Friday, March 6," the family wrote. They described him as "an absolute beacon of light in his East London community and beyond", who would be deeply missed by friends across the festival circuit and yoga community. The family asked that questions regarding the precise circumstances of his death not be raised publicly, requesting privacy during this period. "By every medical measure, the odds of surviving weren't in my favour - yet somehow, I am still here," she wrote. She paid tribute to Mr Pardhy, describing him as her "best friend, my biggest fan, my rock, my confidant, my teammate". "He saved my life, and that truth will stay with me for the rest of mine," she added. She disclosed that she has entered a rehabilitation facility to address her physical recovery alongside treatment for grief, PTSD and trauma. Mr Pardhy was a well-known figure within London's music scene, having spent more than a decade working in events.
