Tel Aviv under attack - Residents rush to shelters as Iran launches cluster munitions toward central Israel

"Residents were seen heading to shelters late Tuesday after Iran launched cluster munitions targeting central Israel. Footage shows bright trails of projectiles crossing the night sky over the Tel Aviv area, accompanied by the sound of air raid sirens. The barrage was described as retaliation for Israel’s killing of senior Iranian official Ali Larijani as the conflict involving the US and Israel enters its third week. According to Israeli emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA), two people were killed in the Ramat Gan area during the attack, bringing the total death toll in Israel since late February to 14. Officials and observers have raised concerns over the reported use of cluster munitions, which disperse multiple submunitions over a wide area, increasing the risk of multiple impact sites and unexploded ordnance. It comes amid the ongoing conflict that began after Israel and the United States launched military operations against Iran on 28 February, which killed Ali Khamenei, the country’s supreme leader. The escalating conflict has sent global energy soaring and disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway that carries around 20 per cent of global oil shipments."
