Rescue teams deployed after missile debris kills 3, injures 13 women in southern West Bank's beauty salon *DISTRESSING*

"Rescue teams deployed in front of a beauty salon in the town of Beit Awwa, southwest of the Hebron Governorate in the West Bank, after a rocket shard struck the salon, killing three women and injuring 13 others, according to the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA). According to WAFA, 'rocket shards fell in several locations across Hebron Governorate, including Hebron city and the town of Deir Samet'. Footage from Wednesday evening shows scenes from inside the salon, which was located in a caravan, with bloodstains spread across the site and women’s clothing and belongings scattered around. Musa Masalma, Mayor of Beit Awwa, said, "I was sitting at home when we suddenly heard an explosion. My children went out to see what was happening, and it seems a shard fell on a women’s salon, where there were perhaps more than 10 girls." Meanwhile, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department of the Hebron Police warned citizens in a statement not to approach rocket shards or debris for their safety, urging people not to attempt photographing or getting close to the objects. This warning comes amid escalating mutual shelling between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other, and the fall of shrapnel in some areas of Palestine as a result of intercepting missiles. Tensions in the Middle East have escalated following joint military operations carried out by the US and Israel against Iran on February 28, at a time when diplomatic talks were underway aimed at 'limiting Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes'. Tehran responded by launching strikes targeting Israel and US military sites in the region, with reports of explosions in several Gulf countries. Later, it was announced that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, had been killed, and his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, was chosen as his successor. The confrontations also extended to Hezbollah in Lebanon, after it announced its intervention in the war “in vengeance” for the Iranian leader, while shipping routes in the region, including the Strait of Hormuz, became exposed to risks following its closure. The escalation also drove oil prices above 100 USD per barrel, increasing pressure on global markets and sparking protests in several countries."
