Larijani funeral - Farewell continues at Holy Shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh in Qom

"The funeral for top Iranian security chief Ali Larijani continued in Qom on Thursday, after huge crowds were seen at the procession in Tehran the previous day. Footage shows people at the Holy Shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh - where he is set to be buried - performing the traditional 'chest-beating' ritual as they said their farewells to the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and his son, who were killed in an Israeli airstrike this week. The US and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28. Tehran responded with strikes on Israel and US assets in the region. The conflict soon widened to Israel and Hezbollah trading strikes across the border with Lebanon too. According to the most recent figures, the Iranian side has reported over 1,400 dead, with 13 deaths of military personnel admitted by the US side. The conflict has seen surging oil prices around the globe. Donald Trump called on NATO countries to help keep the Strait of Hormuz open - before later saying 'we don't need anybody' after their support was not forthcoming. He called that a 'foolish mistake' by his allies. Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi has said the Strait - which handles around 20 per cent of global oil traffic - "is open to friends and non-hostile countries, but closed to enemies and those who collaborate with them."
