About one million domestic leisure trips with overnight stay were made in January 2026, according to Statistics Finland. The number of leisure trips abroad was 0.4 million. Trips abroad include trips with overnight stay in the destination country, overnight cruises and same-day trips. The number of domestic leisure trips went down by around one tenth and that of leisure trips abroad grew slightly from the previous year. In January 2026, around 0.7 million domestic trips with free accommodation were made, which is one tenth fewer than one year earlier. The number of domestic leisure trips with paid accommodation was 0.3 million, which is good one tenth fewer than in January 2025. The number of leisure trips abroad with overnight stay in the destination country was around 0.3 million, which is close on one tenth more than one year earlier. Altogether 3.3 million overnight stays during leisure trips were recorded in Finland and 3.5 million abroad in January 2026.
