CM orders foolproof security arrangements across Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed for foolproof security arrangements at bus stands, commercial centres and markets on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr. The CM also ordered to deploy additional security personnel in markets on Chand Raat. She directed to patrol women police squads in markets to prevent incidents of harassment. She ordered to ensure protection of women and children from incidents of harassment in markets at all costs. She also directed to use drone cameras and night vision binoculars for surveillance in markets and bazaars. She ordered to maintain strict vigilance on roads on Chand Raat to prevent one-wheeling. The CM also directed to increase security and patrols around ATMs and banks. She further directed to continuously monitor police and transport officials at van and bus stands. She directed to display fixed fare on windscreens of buses and vans. The CM directed authorities to ensure strict implementation of notified transport fares across all districts and warned that legal action would be taken against transporters found overcharging passengers. She instructed Deputy Commissioners to closely monitor transport operations to prevent excessive fare collection and ticket black marketing. Authorities have also been directed to prominently display official fare lists at all bus terminals to ensure transparency for passengers. Moreover, the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order while reviewing the security arrangements for Eid-ul-Fitr, directed to make foolproof security arrangements across Punjab on Eid-ul-Fitr and Pakistan Day and to strictly implement the ban imposed under Section 144 on flying drones across Punjab. A complete ban will be imposed on temporary mechanical swings, aerial firing and one-wheeling during Eid. The Cabinet Committee directed foolproof security in Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi for the 37 matches of the Pakistan Super League, saying that the matches of the Pakistan Super League will continue from March 26 to May 3. Khawaja Salman Rafique, while expressing his views, said that extraordinary security arrangements will be ensured on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. In the current Pak-Afghan tense situation, we appeal to the public to fully cooperate with the administration on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Foolproof security cover will be provided to mosques, Imambargahs and open gatherings. The Punjab government has strictly banned aerial firing and one-wheeling on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
