"Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto accused the European Union (EU), German, and Ukrainian leadership of plotting to block the Druzhba pipeline to knock down the current Hungarian government on Friday in Budapest. “It's not that the Ukrainians made an independent decision and now Brussels is trying to repair it. Like hell they did. What happened? They sat down and discussed it: Brussels, Berlin, Kiev. They sat down and agreed there should be an oil blockade against Hungary,” he said. “Because if there is an oil blockade, there could be a gasoline supply crisis, there could be long lines, petrol could cost 1000 forints, and such things are very rarely good for the government, but rather better for the opposition,” Szijjarto continued. The Minister warned that the TurkStream, a crucial gas line through which Budapest delivered 6.6 billion cubic metres of gas last year, was also targeted by Kiev to sabotage Hungarian energy security. “They are trying a total energy blockade, and today, 22 drones were launched at the TurkStream gas pipeline on Russian territory. At the gas pipeline, without which Hungary's natural gas supply would be impossible. Not politically, but physically impossible,” Szijjarto stated. On Thursday, Russian energy giant Gazprom stated that attacks on its TurkStream and Blue Stream gas facilities have increased since March 17. The Hungarian top diplomat went in to reject Ukraine’s EU bid, highlighting that its accession will drag the bloc into a ‘world war’. “If Ukraine comes in, war comes with it. And if war comes into the European Union, dear friends, we must reckon with the fact that the European Union has a lot of member states that are NATO member states, and if a NATO member state clashes with the Russians, it is as if NATO itself were clashing,” he stated. Szijjarto also claimed that the Russia-Ukraine conflict 'has become a business model’ in the country. “Ukraine makes more money with the war than it would with peace,” he said. “This is the situation, and you see, they live well off it, because they are building golden toilets, because their energy minister is caught at the Ukrainian border, because the head of the Ukrainian presidential office is apprehended at his home. They are operating a state system that is corrupt to the core, a war mafia on our dime.” Ukraine's energy sector was engulfed in a multimillion-dollar energy corruption scandal, which brought down some of Volodymyr Zelensky's closest allies. US President Donald Trump has previously accused Zelensky of not knowing where 'half' the money he had been given had gone. Hungary vowed to block the EU loan e amid the row over the Druzhba pipeline. Hungary and Slovakia say oil from Russia via Ukraine is being stopped for political reasons, while Kiev insists a Russian strike damaged the pipeline."
