Metro Manila, Maguindanao to experience high heat levels, advised to take 'extreme caution'

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned residents in Metro Manila and Maguindanao to exercise "extreme caution" amid 33 to 40 degrees Celsius temperatures today, Saturday. Pagasa weather specialist Loriendin De la Cruz-Galicia said in a video forecast that it would be 33 to 36 degrees Celsius in Metro Manila and 40 degrees Celsius in Cotabato City, Maguindanao, Galicia said these temperatures could cause heat cramps or heat exhaustion. "We advise [people] to refrain from activities that could cause heat stroke, because of the extreme heat,” she said in Filipino. But despite the heat, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will still have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. In its early morning bulletin, the weather bureau said that Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Southern Leyte, Bohol, Lanao del Sur, Cotabato, and Davao Oriental will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms because of the easterlies.
