Saudi air defenses intercept 55 drones over Eastern Province since early morning Saturday

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday that air defenses intercepted and destroyed 55 drones over the Eastern Province in the early hours of the second day of the Eid Al-Fitr holiday. The interceptions began overnight, with one drone shot down over the region, followed by three more within the same hour. An additional five drones were intercepted an hour later.Within the next hour, the ministry reported destroying six drones, followed shortly by another six in quick succession. An hour later, ten drones were intercepted, followed by a further twelve over the Eastern Province. Later in the morning, two drones were intercepted, with another two destroyed shortly afterward. An hour later, one drone was detected and intercepted, followed by two more that were also destroyed. A few hours before noon, the ministry reported that five additional drones had been intercepted and destroyed over the Eastern Province.
