For the first time this year, the public will be allowed inside Kramář’s Villa, the official residence of the Czech Prime Minister. Located in the Hradčany district, the villa will welcome visitors on Saturday, August 3, with additional open days scheduled for September 6 and October 4. Kramář’s Villa isn’t usually open to tourists. The building, used for state receptions and high-level political negotiations, is a protected government site. It’s a rare opportunity to step inside a property closely associated with Czech leadership. According to Tereza Šťastná of the Government Office’s Communications Department, nearly 3,000 people visited the residence during last year’s limited openings. History and Architecture The villa, accessible from Gogolova Street, was built between 1911 and 1915 by Viennese architect Friedrich Ohmann. Its most famous resident was Karel Kramář, the first Prime Minister of Czechoslovakia. After a full renovation in the 1990s, the building began serving as the official residence for Czech Prime Ministers and a site for ceremonial functions. Inside, guests can tour the Byzantine-style dining room, the Prime Minister’s office, and a billiard room with intricate wooden paneling.
