Leptospirosis deaths in QC more than doubled, says health official

MANILA, Philippines — Fatalities related to leptospirosis in Quezon City have reached 74 as of August 27, according to the city’s health department. During the QC Journalists’ Forum on Friday, Dr. Patricia Anne Bonifacio from Quezon City Health said the 74 leptospirosis-related cases are “more than double” compared to the numbers of the same period in 2024. “The number of deaths this year has more than doubled compared to last year.
