'Game that connects you to Colombia' - Bogota welcomes 12 countries for Tejo World Championship

"Bogota hosted the third edition of the Tejo World Cup, an event that gathers diplomatic delegations in Colombia to learn and enjoy the country's national game.  Organisers said the initiative aims to send a message of peace and harmony, demonstrating that, despite political and social differences, sport has the power to unite. Footage filmed on Friday shows diplomats from more than ten countries participating in matches at Tejo La Embajada in Bogota. Players were seen hurling metal discs at clay courts rigged with explosives, with the traditional scoring system awarding up to nine points for a 'moyona' - a hit in the centre of the board. "It is very exciting to experience things that connect you to the country of Colombia, such as playing the national game of Colombia, which brings a lot of emotion. We are also making an effort to win, it is the spirit of the game that counts," said Dr. Vineet Kumar, the First Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Bogota For his part, organiser Sebastian Otero highlighted: "We are very pleased to welcome them here at Tejo la Embajada, in what is already the third edition of the Tejo World Championship" In this edition, delegations from 12 countries were present, including Argentina, Canada, China, Colombia, the United States, India, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
