'Strong patriotic spirit' - Malaysia marks 68th anniversary of independence in Putrajaya

"Malaysia marked its 68th National Day on Sunday with a grand military and civic parade in Putrajaya, drawing thousands of citizens and officials to celebrate the occasion with pride and unity. Footage shows the arrival of government officials and guests of honour, followed by the national anthem. Soldiers can be seen marching with Malaysian flags, while colourful floats, police on motorcycles, and electric cars added vibrancy to the parade. "I came with the hope that our nation will continue to progress and remain independent, just as it has for the past 68 years," said one of the participants. "Today, I feel very happy to witness Malaysia's 68th Independence Day celebration live. This is my first time attending in Putrajaya, and I am deeply moved to see the strong patriotic spirit among Malaysians here," said another attendee. Independence Day, or Hari Merdeka, marks the Federation of Malaya's independence from the United Kingdom on 31 August 1957. The event is enshrined in Article 160 of the Malaysian Constitution."
